Vicenza stone, extracted from mines, is sedimentary and therefore it is characterised by the presence of fossils. Shells, spots of oxides and accumulation of fossils enhance its materiality and are part of the sculpture itself. That is why they are not to be regarded as something which lessens the stone's value or beauty. Like all sedimentary stones, it is suitable for sculpture. A natural crystallization process will make it much harder with time.
